Camouflage fashion, a strange trend .
From time to time camouflage prints and patterns, recapture the runways .
We wonder why .
It has never seemed to be flattering to any body type, style or age .
When thinking of camouflage clothings, it naturally leads us to think of military actions, even when on peace keeping missions the UN soldiers will wear camouflage, with the obvious purpose to blend in with the surroundings, that can be a remote desert, a muddy field, an Arctic setting or anywhere in between .
Or it can remind us of the middle aged, overweight, doomsday prepper, driving in his or hers pick-up truck to the supermarket, dressed in full camouflage gear .
In some urban areas the camouflage outfit seems to be the most accepted daywear, perhaps worn to establish a political message .
This year we have seen it again, this time at the Miu Miu and Balmain shows for 2019 . Normally we adore Miu Miu, but unless there is a hidden message or agenda, we don`t understand, it appears to us, like a moment without inspiration and a case of; ” It has worked before, so why not, just repeat it ” ?
If camouflage is not worn as the latest fashion, the overstock or used military equipment is of very high and robust quality . You can buy boots and discreet outerwear made to resist the most extreme conditions and canvas fabric that is impossible to outwash .
As we have, yet to discover, a serious urge to blend in with desert plants or blinding white snow, we prefer not to wear camouflage as fashion, but if you must, it is probably a print or pattern that is available in any vintage shop and we also have a few, selected, items at Network Vintage .
