Vintage versus retro .

Vintage is often defined as something that is more than 20 years old, but also of high quality and lasting value or showing the best and most typical characteristics of a particular type of thing. A vintage cognac is, for instance, described as a cognac from a single year and a single harvest, not a blend of different origins. Or ask any car enthusiast about a favorite cars best vintage year. Perhaps, vintage could even be described as something with sophisticated, timeless quality. In fashion, almost all items, that has been produced in accordance with the French Haute Couture syndicate standards, are, or will become, admired vintage items. Retro is, in the British Cambridge dictionary, defined as something that is of similar styles and fashion to something from the past. When we close our eyes and think of Retro fashion styles, very tiny waists and wide skirts might spring to mind or perhaps images from movies like Grease or American film highlights with James Dean or Marilyn Monroe, define our perception of retro .
